How do I batch rename multiple tracks in Cubase for quick AB testing using track names?

Hi everyone,

I’m using a macro and the Project Logical Editor in Cubase to AB test tracks. My system works like this: I rename a set of tracks to “1” or “2” (for comparison purposes) and use macros to solo those tracks based on the name.

The issue is that I currently have to rename each track one by one, which is time-consuming. Is there a way to batch rename multiple tracks in Cubase quickly?

Btw, I don’t want to use grouping as it requires extra steps (like resetting outputs and ungrouping).
Another thing, using the mouse to solo each track or group of tracks for AB testing disrupts my workflow and prevents me from fully focusing on the sound differences. That’s why I rely on macros…one button click to instantly switch between soloed tracks so that i can keep the process smooth and my attention entirely on the audio while AB’ing.

Thank you

If I understand correctly, you can create a PLE to prepend a key to the selected tracks of your choice.

So basically, you select all tracks of set A, and rename. Then in your solo PLE, you can ask for it to set solo when the key (Set A) is found in the name.
