How do I change sixteenth rests to notes?

Another non-musician question. How do I change these orange sixteenth rests (or whatever they are called  ) to sixteenth notes?

I expected that once I selected them, then I’d just click the 16th note icon on the left, but that doesn’t do it.

Thank you very much!
Eric

Edit: and, once I’ve got it changed to one note per stem, how do I add another note to that stem? Yes, I’ve watched the “First Steps” videos, but it was some time ago, and I have forgotten how to do this.

You don’t change them, but just press Enter, and you’ll go into Note Entry with 16th notes selected. Then just press a pitch.

Thanks, @benwiggy. I got a note to show up. How do I get another note on that stem?

Press Shift+I and then enter in an interval number of your choosing.

e.g. if you have a single C and want to add an F above, enter 4. For the F below, enter -5

Thanks, so very much to both @benwiggy and @DanielMuzMurray! You’ve solved it for me! However, I don’t know how to mark both as “Solution”, so I’ll just mark the first one.
I really appreciate the quick help!

Choosing the user with the longest name is a good and fair method :joy:

As an alternative to using shift-I (as @DanielMuzMurray suggested), you could engage chord mode (Q) and enter the notes directly C then F (note: this only works from the bottom to the top)
