I’m working on a set of annotated solo bass arrangements.
When I have HALion Acoustic Bass loaded, I’m able to add string indicators to the score.
When I change the Endpoint to Aria Player/JABB, the ability to add String Indicators, and the whole String Indicators section, disappears from Properties.
Is there a way to force the ability to do this? Or am I forced to use HALion ? What’s causing this?
This is what I’m trying to do - this was before loading Aria Player.
Turns out the HALion Acoustic Bass was a guitar, by definition. Rather than changing the instrument to String Bass with an instance of Aria Player, I found a workaround, which was to either add another player, and define it as a bass guitar, then change the instrument Endpoint to the sound I wanted in Play - or rather than changing to String Bass in Setup, just change the Endpoint to get the sound…
It appears that for String Bass, Dorico won’t show string indicators unless it’s a guitar bass. (Is that correct? That seems to be what I’m finding )
I think string indicators are only available for Fretted Instruments.
(It’s a limitation - many of us would like to use them on unfretted strings)
