I’ve recently started using VST Live Pro 2.
I just can’t seem to create a loop.
I expected to easily select a section of the audio track I want to loop, but (even) that’s not working.
I don’t get it.
A complete audio track (some range), or a segment (clip)?
Maybe I misunderstand but I use flexloops. They let you set loops per part that you can repeat however you what and then step out into the next part at will.
Select audio clip, press “P” (Markers to Selection), then press “/” on numpad (activate Cycle) and press play. For more advanced looping use Flexloop - slice song in parts and loop each part how many times it should play. Similar to Cubase’s Arranger.
I expected to be able to easily select a range that I want to loop with the mouse, but apparently that is not possible.
I use(d) flexloops too.
Something like that was the only option in early versions of VL. But Flexloops are equally easy and sooooo much better
.
I have experience with many different DAW solutions, but I don’t understand how to easily create a loop with Flexloop. An explanation, or preferably a video, would be very helpful.
First, you need to use Parts as parts of a song, for example Intro, Verse, Chorus.
So say you want to loop the Intro. Then
- Create at least two parts; “Intro” and “The Rest of the Song”.
- Set “The Rest of the Song” to start just after the Intro by placing the cursor at the right position and click on the time indicator
- Activate Flexloop
- Set number of loops, for example endless
Should look like this
Now the Intro will loop until you hit Down arrow (or whatever action you set up under Devices…).
This is so nice because you can have any number of song parts repeat any number of times with full interactive control!
Also on the right of the flex loop button you can select the behaviour when you press next part (down arrow) or simply click on another part, the jump will be made after selected number of beats/measures or at part end
Thank you very very much, now I understand how it works. ![]()
@Torbjorn_Hedberg, place the playhead where next part should start, hold Shift and click to add new part. The part start time will be added automatically.
Thanks for the tip, once you know how it works it’s so easy ![]()
