Hello everyone,
When I try to erase or delete a selection in SpectraLayers, I feel like I’m using an eraser with opacity, like in Photoshop. Even after multiple attempts, the section doesn’t get removed instantly. I have to go over the same area several times before it’s completely blank.
Is this gradual erasing behavior normal? Can I change it so the selected frequency range in the audio deletes in one go instead of fading out gradually?
Thank you for your help.

What you describe sounds like one of those 2 scenarios:
Your selection has large fading (check the Time Fade/Frequency Fade settings)
You’re selecting such a tiny spectral area that you’re almost below the spectral resolution defined by the FFT Size parameter. Spectral pixels are a bit like jelly, if you delete tiny portions of them, the surrounding will still bleed into the hole you created.

I find it depends upon the tool used. Along with what Robin is saying about setting selection boundary hardness;
tools like Harmonic, Freq and Magic Wand Selections seem to require multiple cut>paste or copy>paste operations; hence needing to use Re-Select (ctrl+shift+D) often with these tools.
Selection Brush, Lasso, Poly, Elliptical, Rectangular seem allow near 100% removal without further parameter adjustment.
Transfer allows a lot of scope for setting percentage of amplitude affected and I find myself using it a lot.
I try to not do much destructive editing beyond cloning to fill holes, so I seldom use the eraser. That’s not to say I haven’t used the eraser tool much, I have. That said, you need to set the Eraser attenuation quite high to get near full erase with one pass.
Have you maxed the attenuation level? There’s a sliding handle somewhere up above the main window on the left side.
