Playing through my arrangement, the latency between my playing the midi keyboard and the sound played is annoyingly slow. How do I adjust the settings for this?
To get lower latency, you need to reduce the buffer size, which you can do in Preferences > Play > Audio device setup.
The lowest latency you can get though will depend on the sound device you have. If you have a proper soundcard made for music (rather than one built into the motherboard), or a mac, then you should be able to get latency down to about 5-10ms. If you have a motherboard soundcard then you probably won’t be able to get that low.
Be warned that reducing the latency also increases the risk of audio glitches because the audio engine, plugins and audio device have to do a lot more work and they have a shorter amount of time to do it in.
