I can’t seem to figure out how to start my 60-day trial of Cubase Pro 14. (I am currently running the latest version of Cubase Pro 13.)
I installed the application via the Steinberg Download Assistant to my M1 Max MacBook Pro running macOS Sequoia. When I launch the program (v14) the Steinberg Activation Manager starts. However, I do not see any option to begin the 60-day trial.
Do I need to do something else for the trial version to show up in the Activation Manager?
Not sure that this will help, even as a still Cubase 14 Trial user, but I don’t remember seeing the SAM starting when launching Cubase 14. Usually, I launch the SAM with administrator rights (Windows 10 system, here) independently of Cubase. And presently, I have this :
In my Activation Manager I see that Cubase Pro 13 is activated. But I don’t see any entry for Cubase Pro 14 (neither in the Activated or Not Activated tabs).
Did you by any chance have to first sign up for the Cubase Pro 14 trial on the Steinberg website? There is a button on the Steinberg site to seemingly get the trial, but clicking this button just takes me to the Cubase 14 announcement page.
In the past, I would have to sign up for Steinberg product trials and I believe then receive an email with an activation code (or something like that). But I’m not sure how it’s supposed to work now with the new online (non-eLicenser)-based licensing system.
I don’t remember having to do this. All went via the Steinberg Download Assistant, as far as I remember, but maybe I had to connect to my own MySteinberg page, at a point. But again, I’m not absolutely certain…
What’s also in yours, by the way ? Mine reflects exactly what’s in SAM, when using the Display Steinberg Licensing based products (or something like that).
This, I’m absolutely certain : I never had to use an activation code, either for Cubase 12 or 14 Trial versions. It was probably the case with the eLicencer based products, though.
At this point, if nothing related to Cubase 14 appears on your MySteinberg page, I would suggest to uninstall it and try to go through the whole process again, being sure that you have administrator rights (or the MacOS equivalent) during all of it. On my end, I have a Windows administrator account for this kind of task. Sorry to not be more useful…
I am not seeing Cubase 14 in either the Steinberg Activation App on my computer nor on the “Show Steinberg Licensing-based products” page of the MySteinberg website.
I just deleted my Cubase 14 app from my macOS Applications folder and am reinstalling it via the Steinberg Download Assistant utility. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
When I click the try now button it asks me to log in and leads me to a download button…I think that process is what assigns a trial license to your ID that is then activated when you download.
EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed that you say you did this and it didn’t work. Hmmm … were you signed in to your MySteinberg account when you hit the button?
Hmm, that didn’t work. I clicked the button and was presented with a sign in screen to sign into MySteinberg account. After doing that I was redirected to the Cubase 14 product announcement page (showing an overview of the new features, each of which had a “Learn more” button or link).
I then relaunched the Steinberg Activation Manager and the Cubase Pro 14 Trial still doesn’t show up as an option to activate.
I figured it out. You HAVE to Confirm the Steinberg newsletter subscription (which I didn’t want) in order to have the Cubase Pro 14 Trial added to the Activation Manager.
Once I signed up for the newsletter, I was able to activate the Cubase Pro 14 Trial.
I should have said that I had to hit the Confirm button on the newsletter subscription page before I was then directed to the page with the option to download the Cubase Pro 14 trial. I didn’t have to actually download the trial installer from this page, btw. Just being directed to that page somehow added the trial to the Steinberg Activation Manager. I activated the previously installed (but inactivated) Cubase Pro 14 application from within the manager.
Very strange. However, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to be subscribed to the newsletter. Steinberg doesn’t send out too many emails, unlike a few other companies I have purchased products from.
Anyway … I’m glad you were finally able to activate the trial.
I can’t tell what “will be sent out” in the future. From past experience, as a long-time subscriber, Steinberg only sends emails during special promotions or new releases. Those are things I like to receive information about. If I feel like I’m being disturbed, I’ll unsubscribe. I have never felt the need, though. I would rather be informed.
I would say it has been way less than three times a day and closer to every other month.
Yes, I’m with you, I’ve been a long-timer subscriber for ages, too. I was just pointing out: we know that from past-time experience, newbies cannot know. Let the product speak for itself and maybe, like we did, users will subscribe voluntarily. That’s all. No need to convince me…all good!
Happy XMas days
