How do I update from Cubase 9.5 pro to Cubase 15 pro?

Hello. I have a problem. I have Cubase 9.5 with an e-licenser license. I purchased the Cubase 15 pro update. Unfortunately, I can’t install the update because I can’t register my e-license on the Steinberg website. The “Registration Successful” message displays, but unfortunately, my e-license isn’t displayed, so I can’t update my Cubase 9.5 pro license to Cubase 15 pro. If I can’t activate the purchased product, can I return it to Steinberg?

For Cubase 15 there is no eLicenser anymore, that is obsolete since Cubase 12.

You need to start the Activation Manager and activate the new license.

@rafal_rutkowski Are you saying you never registered the e-license before? If that’s the case, you would need to contact tech support to ask them do this manually.

@JuergenP - I have not used this, but wonder if it might be possible to add the code in the SDA

Yes, that is the place where you need to enter the new Download Access Code. The Download Assistant seems to add the license to your account profile and puts the new product to your “My Products” area.

To finally get it activated you start the Activation Manager, which then finds the new license now in your profile and allows you to activate it.

I’ve already done this. It says Registration Succssfulln, but the e-licenser doesn’t appear among the other Licensed Devices.

Redeeming Cubase Pro 15 Update from Cubase Pro 11 and older requires an appropriate eLicenser license to be registered in your account.

No qualifying license has been found in your account.

Please register an eLicenser with a qualifying license and try again.

That error message is unfortunately wrong.

In this case it sounds like you never registered the e-licenser to you Steinberg account previously, so you would need to contact tech support to ask them do this manually.

Also, you should verify that you are using the same Steinberg account as you did previously.

Does that mean Steinberg will do it for me if I ask?

Will I have to give them my eLicencer number and they’ll add it?

Yes.

I suppose- but I don’t know. In any case they will sort this for you, as it’s quite routine.

Also a note - a frequent error is that people purchase the wrong update, I just mention because it’s something to check

I was convinced that having Cubase 9.5 Pro would have no problem upgrading to 15 Pro. The description said it would work with Cubase 4 and above. The only problem was registering my current license, which is available on eLicencer.

So you said in your first posting you want ro update Cubase 9.5 but this messages implies you are trying to update from a Cubase Pro 11 license.

This sounds like you bought the wrong update, if that is the case you need to contact Online Shop support to get a refund and then buy the correct update.

An error has occurred.
It’s as I wrote at the beginning.
I want to update Cubase 9.5 to Cubase 15.

What email address should I write to regarding this matter?

So if you have Cubase 9.5 Pro license you must have a USB dongle, is that connected when you try to activate the new license?

You can open a support ticket via your mySteinberg profile. Alternativly you can call phone support next week, they start working again on monday after the holidays.

Yes, I have a USB dongle. Unfortunately, I can’t register it on my account. I’ll try contacting Steinberg.

When you have the dongle you must have the eLicenser Control Center on your computer. Can you please post a screenshot of the eLCC here, but blur the license numbers.

Thanks for the screenshot.

From what I remember the USB eLicenser is automatically registered in the online profile. This eLicenser should also show up in your profile.

Did you by any chance use a different email address for the new license? It is requir3d to use the identical id here.

Unfortunately, eLicenser is not among the Licensed Devices.
