how do you guys free warp multi miced instruments?

I have a guitar that I recorded with two mics. I then comped the take using group editing. Now I want to freewarp the tracks so they are tighter. How can we do this in Cubase? All I see online is a guy using Cubase 6 and exporting to audacity to create a multi-track wav file and then reimport that. Is there a better way?

For 2 mics just render in place to a new stereo track with the 2 tracks panned hard left/right.

That eliminated the ability to separately process each track. Also, I have crossfades, etc, and I don’t want to render down until I am sure that everything is really clean. This is a comped session.

There’s got to be a better way that some weird workaround.

There’s not.

What do you do when you have three mics? Or 10?

Well the only times I’ve had more than two mics it’s been drums and I prefer the results of splitting/moving and crossfading in this case.
Even on DAWs where multitrack warp is implemented 100% phase may not be retained so imo, it’s kind of a last resort except for some legato things that can’t otherwise be fixed.

But for multi mics the Audacity multi channel is your only option.
