How do you play back audio recorded in Cubase or the sampler track on a MIDI keyboard?

I’m using Cubase 12 Pro. Although I’ve been working with Cubase for a few years now, I cannot figure out how to play audio tracks or sampler tracks back on MIDI keyboard.

What I want to do is use my MIDI keyboard to 1) play back any part of audio I recorded on an audio track in Cubase (drums, bass, guitar, vocals or whatever) and make it so the pitch changes as I move up and down the keyboard, like an old sampling keyboard from the 80s etc.

  1. Do the same as in point 1) with samples in the sampler track.

Maybe it’s something simple I’ve overlooked. It seems like my MIDI keyboard just plays back virtual instruments but how do I link it to play back recorded audio? Thanks.

I don’t use this feature. But I’m pretty sure you just drag the audio file from the Project View down to the Sampler in the Lower Zone and you should get what you are after. It’s all in the user manual.
