I’m familiar with the concept of using Percussion maps for Groove Agent, in Dorico. I’m trying to figure out how to specify Percussion maps when using Groove Agent in my DAW.
Some background:
I have a Dorico project that I’ve transferred to my DAW, via midi. It has two instances of Groove Agent 5. One instance uses Groove Agent SE Studio Kit as its Percussion map. The other instance uses the General Midi Percussion map.
When using Groove Agent 5 in my DAW, (Studio One 6.x), I don’t see where I can specify which percussion maps are being used. I’m relatively new to Groove Agent (SE as well as Full).
I realize the two percussion maps, (Groove Agent SE Studio Kit and General Midi), are similar, but some of the instruments sound a bit different.
Where do I specify which percussion maps to use, when using Groove Agent 5 in my DAW?
The best advice I can give you is to address the Studio One team and ask them, why they haven’t included support for receiving a VST-instrument’s sound list and expression maps. The latter does not apply to you but is very similiar in a way.
I don’t mean this sarcastically. You should really ask them.
The answer will be either that Steinberg did not document this feature well enough in the VST3 SDK or the S1 team was too lazy to implement it.
Please let us know your findings.
Thanks Johnny_Moneto. I’m sure there’s an interesting answer, or non-answer. Since I’m in the midst of a big project, I’m loathe to start a finger-pointing match with PreSonus and Steinberg at the moment, but I plan to look into this and report back, as time avails.
