How does one use USB as an audio interface in WL13

Just got a new Topping DX5II and wanted to use it for headphone monitoring. The USB works fine with my computer but there is no way for WL to use the USB as it is not listed as an “audio device”. My computer has an RME9632 card for the audio which is what I normally use for mastering. Suggestions or “how to” use it. Thanks in advance…

Run a fibre optic from the RME9632 (set to S/PDIF) into the Topping DX5II.

Maybe it’s like the Grace m900 which is a USB interface. Grace had to make a special firmware for the m900 for WaveLab to see it.

Why? I have no idea but they did.

The only way it would work with WaveLab natively (at least on Mac) was to create an Aggregate Audio Device in macOS with the Grace m900 and then choose that Aggregate Device in WaveLab. I’m not sure if that can or needed to happen for Windows.

Not what I want to do as my computer is in a different room. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am on a Windows machine. All the other DAWs that I use seem to be able to use a setup that allows me to use the DX5II with USB. It is strange that in this day and age we cannot use USB with WL. Maybe PG will chime in and tell me why this is not possible???

I finally decided to use the SPDIF input. Works GREAT and SOUNDS GREAT also.

Thanks for replying…much appreciated.

Not sure what you mean, as most Audio Interface use a USB connection.
What matters is to have a proper ASIO driver.
If you don’t have one for your device, consider this Steinberg wrapper plugin:

The specs for the fiber (Toslink) allow a much longer connection than USB.

You have to install the Thesycon ASIO driver.

Yes but getting a tosslink cable to my “machine room” would be the tricky part.

Tried it and it did not work. Thanks for the information.

It might be nice IF Topping mentioned this somewhere. Thanks for the info!!!

Paulo, I Installed the software and WOW! What a difference. Thanks! for the info.

It’s in the downloads/drivers section of their website and only when you get there (for whatever reason) there’s an indication that the drivers are needed for Windows only.
Go figure.

It’s a superb piece of gear but i really dislike the comparison they do at their website between the new DX5II and the “old” DX5 where the “old” one is presented as some sort of rubbish or incomplete piece of gear.
Doesn’t look well on their part and doesn’t abide much for the stuff they have done in the past.
They could present the new DX5II with great praise not needing to diss the previous DX5, wich is superb as well.
I really didn’t like their promotional vocabulary (or the website).

Paulo,

Yes I too was wondering about their marketing approach.

Thanks again for the info on the download. Much appreciated.
