i write to you today because i gave Blue Cat’s Connector a second chance. Because Noteperformer 5 can now stream data to indivudal mixer channels.
I currently use it in conjunction with Noteperformer 5.0 NPPE.
The great thing is.. Bluecat Audio Connector can stream each indivudal Mixer signal from the VST Insert slot to an outside reciver:: i use Reaper for it..
and can apply my own presets and FX directly from the live stream from Dorico Pro 6
Its really awesome you can test the demo for free with 5 slots… i use the local network mode for sender and reciver and for each indivual instrument i raise the port number , of course reciver and sender should have the same port..
it works perfectly… keep in mind this is just a preview signal … a final stem render from dorico pro should be used for maximum quality.
what settings are you using in Blue Cat’s Connector? I tried it once, but there were quite a few dropouts. Can you actually record the streamed audio in the DAW? I had no luck with that in Logic.
Peace for different ways of working. Are you running them on different machines? Asking because I think Bluecat Connector’s localhost mode should gain you some stability and performance versus network mode.
My main question though is whether you know of a hard reason it has to be for preview only?
I’ve tested four Bluecat instances in Dorico on FX sends for surround- L R, Ls Rs, C, and LFE in localhost mode, routed to Cubase. So I haven’t identified a sound quality difference with that number of sends that would prevent you from printing it. Haven’t had to shift them yet due to latency, and the 3.0 version of TXL Timecode has been rock solid to sync their transport.
I’m not doing anything I can’t walk back, but working in Dorico, monitoring in 5.1, smoother video, live recording, render format options…
The current limitation with Dorico rendering for me is not being able to render an FX bus/send separately. In part because the Dorico instruments are post fader only. (Or at least that would make it easy) Unless someone knows a way?
Hey I did exessive testing with Cubase 14 and Dorico 6 with Blue Cat and TLX and its truly rock solid, even when it draws 10% more CPU with Cubase but, you can record a final track from it and have almost zero dropouts.
you need bluecat connector to stream audio from doricos channels to Cubase.
TLX Timecode is only for synchronizing Dorico with Cubase or any other DAW. Only needed when you want to automate the audio channels and plugins you use inside of Cubase alongside the audio streams.
You also need a Midi Interface for best performance.. i use the CME U4Midi WC just for this.
alternativly you could use LOOP Midi on Windows, but this has major downsides because it sometimes crashes.
You can reduce the latency between your computer and U4 Midi WC by purchasing the CME Midi Cables… ( the ultra short ones, 20 cm lenght) Make sure to plug the in and output to the same port to create a midi loop and setup your midi ports in Cubase and TLX accordingly.
Yes you can also reroute inside of U4 Midi WC on the software side.. but this also crashes alot with Dorico.
Yes you can use multiple Flows but keep in mind you need different ports for each bluecat connector instrument inside of Dorico. …: I recommend to have a project in Cubase for each flow.
