I have a synth track. I have that synth track going to an Effects track. I can automate the level on the synth track, I can also automate the level on the effects track (duh), but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to Automate the Send Level that goes to the effect track.
Use Case: Lets say I have a synth line going to a reverb…Better yet lets use a snare since it will make more sense. Lets say I have an 808 snare and I want to send the last snare of a 4 bar section real quick to a reverb with a really long decay. If I try to do this with using the automation level on the Effects track (reverb in this case) by bringing fader up on that last snare, boom that’s great, but the caveat with that is that when I have the effects (reverb) fader come back down before that next 808 snare hits, then it’s also taking the decay away from that reverb as well because I am effectively bringing down the effect volume, so I can’t get the desired effect.
I am trying to mimic like how we did dub back in the day on mackie mixers. They had 4 or 8 sends on them. You’d have your snare on send 1 which would go to a spring reverb or a reverb with a long decay. What you’d do is lets say on the last snare of a phrase you’d manually crank up the send really quick right when the snare hit, and then take it back down.. The reverb would decay for a long time. Trying to do this in cubase mixer seems impossible if you can’t automate this send.
I’ve tried doing wet/dry with an insert reverb , but it sounds like ass that way. and still cuts off the tail of the reverb when you bring the dry signal back.
