I can’t figure out how to do this without doing a page override. I opened the First Page template and poked around and I’m coming up empty. I’ve also done several searches in the manual and still no dice. TIA.
Make a custom page template.
Thanks. So there’s no way to simply adjust the template that’s already there?
Of course you can adjust the page without changing the template. The question is then whether the consequent page override matters to you.
Hi @MusiComPublishing , just to clarify: if, after editing the corresponding Page template, you don’t see any change in the layout, probably you have page overrides (red triangles on the little plage icons): if you previously made some changes directly on the layout (in the music area of Engrave mode), then those pages (that will then have page overrides) don’t follow the Page Template anymore. If you right click on the page icons that have the red triangle, you can remove all the page overrides, so that the changes you made in the Page Template will be visible in your layout.
Thanks. I don’t have any page overrides.
In the simplest of terms, I want to adjust the up-down placement of the Dedication, Title, and Subtitle text.
I would like to do that directly in the Page Template labeled First, if this is the best way, though I don’t know if it is or not. I’ve opened the “First” Page Template and noodled around but can’t figure out how to adjust the vertical position of those text types.
This all seems unnecessarily complicated and very much a “Mother May I?” type of thing.
You’re on the right track. Open the First Page template, select the frame (green box) containing the items you want to move, and move it.
Note that in the factory templates, several of the text frames are very close to each other. If you zoom in, it will be easier to select just the one that you want.
@MusiComPublishing
If you post the Dorico Project, with a description of what you final result should be, I am sure someone can show you precisely what to do to obtain that.
Thanks.
I’m not wanting to move the whole text frame, but individual bits of text independent of one another (e.g., move the Dedication up a bit, etc.).
I’m able to do that with an override, but not with the actual template.
I’m trying to move the Title down a bit, and the Subtitle down also, though not equally with the Title. Is it right or wrong that I think this should be done by editing the Page Template called First?

Thank you for the file, @MusiComPublishing. You should be able to edit the First page template, and selecting the various tokens, set (increase) the Leading value as desired for each line:

Here a short video with the workflow:
I appreciate you doing that video tremendously. Thanks.
You are welcome, @MusiComPublishing.
