How to convert 32-bit audio to 16-bit in Cubase Elements 14

I completed a new album that I wanted to submit to Routenote; however, the mp3’s are in 32-bit & 44.100 kHz and I’ve read Routenote only accepts the files in 16-bit. So I wanted to find out if anyone knows how to convert/export the mp3’s into 16-bit in Cubase Elements 14 as I don’t see any Mixdown option of 16-bit. The only options are 32 & 64?

I use a Dell G5 (32 GB of RAM & 2 TB of Hard Drive) & Windows 11. Would appreciate someone’s help with this matter.

MP3 is a lossy compressed format that works differently than uncompressed formats like WAV or AIFF. Instead of bit depth, MP3 quality is determined by its Bit Rate (measured in kbps, e.g. 320 kbps), that’s what you can set exporting to MP3.

Exporting to WAV or AIFF format, you can set the Bit Depth (measured in bits):

Also FLAC supports Bit Depth setting.

Besides, converting from a lossy format like MP3 to another format is not considered good practice for audio quality. While it is technically possible to perform such a conversion in Cubase, you should consider a fresh export.

Additionally to what @ASM wrote, MP3’s are always in 32bit format, there is no 16bit format for them. Maybe Routenote expectes Wave files?

Routenote accepts 16 bit FLAC or 320kbps MP3 (bitrate irrelevant as Johhny said)

You should use FLAC 44.1k 16Bit as this gives a little better quality than an MP3.
