How to create a staff without staff lines only bar lines and chord symbols?

Hi,
I am coming from Finale. In Finale i have complete control over how and what to display in a bar. For example, I can do rhythmic notation without any system lines.
Since i am new to Dorico i want to assume that i am simple not able to find this incredible important feature.
So I would appreciate any help on this.
Here an example I made with Finale:

Thomas, you are looking for a system without system lines. First thing I would try, do a little .xml export from a small part of your finale project. Then import into Dorico. I have heard that systems with more or less lines than the usual 5 do get transferred via music.xml. I donā€™t know about zero lines, but maybe you are in luck.

If you search the forum for ā€œ0-line staffā€ you will get a number of useful hits. Sort by date and check the recent ones. Great answers there.

Here:

@k_b You mean ā€˜staffā€™ in English. ā€˜Systemā€™ refers to the whole group of staves.

Re the OP: What happened to beat 4 in bar 1? (Thanks, Finale.)

Thanks!
This is kind of unbelievable that a program that claims to be the Mercedes of music notation does not offer the ability to create empty bars, or staffs with 0 bar lines. I truly hope the Dorico guys incorporate 0 bar lines. In fact, any number of staff lines.
Looking forward to the next major upgrade.

Did you following this post link? Very quick setup, works well.

I am not sure many would claim this?
Dorico is only up to v5. As you would know there are many (various, diverse) aspects of creating music notation, many are specialists (probably like yourself) wanting very particular options. At some stage during its development, it has to come on the market in order to have financing (purchases, and feedback) to continue. Otherwise to satisfy a large proportion of users purchasing it, we might have to wait another 10 years before it is released.
As @judddanby has suggested, we are using that workaround. Perhaps think of it as a plugin, maybe one day it will be part of Dorico proper, but until then it should work for you?

Of course Mark, I meant staff.
That must have been my german part of the brain causing confusion.

Is it really Notenlinie in German???

I never said it was Notenlinieā€¦
I not 100% sure, but the ā€žNotensystemā€œ normally has 5 (Noten)linien.

Staff line ā†’ Notenlinie
Bar line ā†’ Taktstrich
Staff ā†’ (Noten)system
System ā†’ Akkolade

Thank you, Stefan!

Cool, thank you, @Vadian

This request is a bit of a snake in the grass.
But, since a member of the forum will have been able to build a library so that we can obtain such empty staves or staves with a single line (see the link in the post of Juddanby above), Iā€™m quite sure that the Dorico development team, always listening here, will integrate this into the next major version of Dorico.

So Dorico 6 and Ā« cutaways scores Ā» will be friends. :innocent:

Obiwan,
do you have inside knowledge?
We donā€™t know which surprises to expect, and I actually like it that way.
Itā€™s somehow boring if you know what your Christmas presents will beā€¦

No, I am not.
But, I find that the development team is often present on this forum, and as this request for Ā« blank staves Ā» goes back nearly three years (if I am to believe the posts on this subject on this forum) and is strong enough to be taken into account because it is much awaited, Dorico is the only software that doesnā€™t currently allow this. So Iā€™m fully confident.

Time will tellā€¦
Patience.

Iā€™m not completely sure of all your requirements with empty bars and 0-line staves, but this took me about 30 seconds to set up and input in Dorico, so it is quite simple once you add the doricolib file.
