I have created this non metered section between two metered sections. I don’t wish to write all the notes to be played in this passage; instead I have placed a text saying “continue this via improvisation”. Now I need to create some blank space right here, between the last note before the improvisation (where my text will fit) and the next composed note:
If I were in Finale, I’d create a bunch of rests and hide them. Can we create invisible rests in Dorico like that? Or, what do you suggest?
Hi @Hakan_Ali_Toker, there are various ways to obtain this. One is as follow:
-
write a long note (whole note for example) at the end of the improvised passage. Suppress its playback and hide the notehead (this last you have to do in Engrave mode)
(you could of course alternatively write some extra notes that represent what improvisation you want, more or less, and then hide the noteheads and stems for that extra portion: this will be then played back, and probably doing so you don’t need the Note Spacing Change, or eventually you need to reduce the NSC)
-
put the wiggle line between the last visible note and the next bar first note.
-
to create more space use Note Spacing Changes (the first changed to a larger number than your default, and the second set to reset)

Thank you so much @Christian_R ! Very kind of you to even send me a file example. That was very helpful
I fixed it using the second method. The first one is good to keep handy for another time
