How to Delete Unused Takes from Disk?

When loop recording, I noticed that every take is stored in one large audio file. Consequently, when the unwanted takes (lanes) are discarded, they aren’t removed from disk - they’re simply trimmed (hidden) from the gigantic audio clip, thus wasting lots of disk space.

No doubt, this is the newbest of newb questions - sorry! - but I’ve poured through the menus and these forums and can’t find an obvious solution: How do I convert a take, trimmed clip, or otherwise processed audio clip, into a brand new audio file, so that the changes are made permanent and any trimmed audio is deleted forever - from both the project and from disk? There has to be an easy way to do this, but I just can’t find it.

Any advice is appreciated.

  1. Select the audio clips in question
  2. Ctrl + F (“Find Selected In Pool” - also available from the audio menu)
  3. Right-click on the selected audio clips in the pool, select “Minimize File” from the context menu
