How to divide a long note into multiple notes simultaneously using ties?

You can select a note and use force duration press “O”. Now the note won’t adjust automatically if you use ties.

Also, if the long note is already in, you can split it at any rhythmic position by placing the caret and typing U (shortcut for the scissor tool in the left panel).

Are there markings missing in this example score? As it is I don’t see the reason for splitting the notes in bars 2 and 3.
