How to drag a cresc. without changing the spacing between staves

I looked online and it said holding down the option key on a Mac would prevent stave spacing changes but that isn’t true.

Can you give more details? Are you trying to move it to a new rhythmic position, or just move it graphically? Is it a hairpin, or text? Can you provide a screenshot of what you’re trying to do, or a Dorico project file?

I solved it by clicking on the hairpin, going into engraver and choosing “above” in placement.
