Spectralayers 12 is within Cubase where I split a track. How do I put a split layer back into cubase?
Drag and drop it
That’s what I thought I remembered, but when I did so, it went over the original with cross hatching. so then I created a duplicate of that track, deleted the material and dragged to the empty track. I saw that it was the desired separating and went to save, and got a message that it was corrupted and couldn’t be saved. saving under a different name gave the same result. So today, I created another audio track and dropped it to that and it was able to be saved. Unfortunately, after working on this project, I found that a sampled substitution track that was fine last night now had no sound and I had to go to the previous version that wasn’t corrupted and copy the split track to that and rename as the latest version, to recover hours of lost work.
I don’t use ARA, so I have stayed out of this. I have also lost weeks worth of work in the past. Personally, I save redundant copies for any project file which has more than 2 hours work. It is very much worth it to me to save two project files for every project; I usually name “filename.slp” and “filename_BU.slp” and has bailed me out a few times.
Awful to lose that much. I save projects with a date after, such as 260325. Each time I open and do appreciably more work, I do the new date. If I do a considerable amount during a day I may add a letter. This was projects will sort by latest date. But I did lose a days work when it suddenly crashed and I hadn’t done a letter update.
this would be like”
project 260325b
project 260325
project 260324, etc,
sort by descending, latest will be at the top.
Yep, I learned that date in reverse order always goes in order when sorting many files in a folder from working in TV.
I would use “20260325” for today and always label my final deliverables with such syntax in the filename. I seldom add time, tho.
dust yerself off get back on
