Trying out Elements 14. I work often in the key editor to change/arrange notes. I would like to have the score editor visible at the same time, so that I can see the changes in the score as I make them in the key editor (as I can do in Dorico). I’ve tried many things but have so far failed to find the correct scenario. I can have the score open in a separate window, but when I go to the key editor, the score window disappears into the background.
P.S. Actually … I have just managed to do this, trying different ways, but now I simply can’t remember what I did in the end … Please enlighten me.
You can arrange your windows side-by-side so that you have e.g. the Key Editor shown in the lower zone, and the Score Editor shown in a separate window.
thanks. how exactly do I arrive at a searately controlled (sizeable/moveable) window state for each editor?
and once I have established that, another question: if I had a second monitor, can I move one of the editor windows onto it with the two editors still being synchronized during editing and playback?
There are several ways of doing this. If you are in the lower zone with the Key Editor, use
the diagonal arrow button in the top right to open in a separate window
To synchronise the windows during playback, ensure the ‘Auto-scroll’ button (aka ‘follow’) is enabled
Thanks for clarification, that works just fine. What about moving one of the windows to a second monitor? Is that possible?
Have you tried grabbing the window by the title bar and dragging it to you second monitor, just like you would with any window?
I don’t actually have a second computer monitor (yet), but I was able to drag it onto a TV screen, seems to work. Thanks.
