How to hide a rest inherited from a cue?

I’m using cues as a sneaky way of displaying timpani tuning. (See attached image.)

The only problem is a stray rest, “inherited” from the material that the cue references. Since the measure is 3/4, I can’t elegantly make the cue notes quarter notes, which would eliminate the problem. (Or can I?)

Is there a way to hide/eliminate the circled rest?

Try enabling the ‘Hide rests around cue’ property in the Properties panel.

It’s like you read my mind and implemented a feature I didn’t yet know I wanted.

… Except that it doesn’t appear to be working. (See attachment.)

Make sure the cue itself doesn’t include the quarter rest at the end of the bar, so it stops immediately after the last note.
