I am not sure if it’s an obvious thing how to edit a .drm file to get a nice, short drum map for any purpose you need.
- Create a drum map that matches your preferences in Cubase.
- Save it as a .drm file.
- Open the file in a text editor.
- Look for a line which contains the following: " list name=“Order” type=“int”".
- Remove all items which you don’t use (example "item value=“35"” ) from this list.
- Load a file into the Cubase.
- Done.
- Don’t remove items from Map list (“list name=“Map” type=“list””) as it makes a mess in the drum map.
This helped me a lot as I don’t have to scroll the screen all the time to find the range where all my drum sounds are. I wish that Cubase could apply vertical scroll depending on the drum map notes count though.
