How to make two dotted quarters?

Hi,

I have a 4/4 measure and I want to write two dotted quarters on measure 1 and 2.5. I need real dotted quarters, because I want to apply a “Two strokes multi note Tremolo”. But I am just able create a dotted quarter and a eighth tied to a quarter and so I cannot apply the tremolo.

I tried different options from the “Notation Options”, but either I did not find the correct one or …

Any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks and regards,
Felix

I just had a similar problem a couple of days ago. You can use Force Duration (the tool that looks like a C clamp, or type the letter “o”) to enter a dotted quarter note on beat 2.5.

Simplest way : use Force duration (o). That’s the tool that looks like a clamp. Dorico respects then the rhythm you input.

Stephen, I am glad we agree ^^

@Stephen Taylor and @MarcLarcher,
thanks for the hint. My mistake was that I tried the Force Duration option afterwards and not in beforehand.
That solved my problem!
Thanks, Felix
