Hi!
How to set up an instrument channel (Kontakt, piano), so it records the left and right hand (live) to different midi channels?
Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum,
If your hardware (MIDI Keyboard) sends left/right hand MIDI Notes on different MIDI Channels (MIDI Channel 1 and 2), you can add 2 MIDI/Instrument tracks and then use the Input Transformer to filter the unwanted channel out for every single track (use the PASS CH x preset).
If this is not the case, you can again use the Input Transformer and set it so it will filter MIDI Notes Higher/Lower than a specific note (Split point) out.
Left hand:
Filter Target
( Type Is | Equal | Note | And
Value 1 (Pitch) | Bigger or Equal | C3/60) // Or you wanted Split point note
Action Target
Function
Filter
Right hand:
Filter Target
( Type Is | Equal | Note | And
Value 1 (Pitch) | Less | C3/60) // Or you wanted Split point note
Action Target
Function
Filter
Do you use Cubase Pro? The Input Transformer is Cubase Pro only.
Splendid answer. However, I think most synthesizers would refer to it as “split point” rather than snap point.
Hi,
You are right, thank you! I have corrected it in my previous post.
Thank you, Martin, it did the trick!
Hi,
Since Cubase 13 you can use the Channel Input.
Instead of Any, set the dediated MIDI Channel for the given MIDI/Instrument Track, you want to listen to.
