How to record more "MIDI cc points"?

Hi! I’ve tried to look trough all pages explaining how to do this but I have not yet found something that works. I would like there to be more midi cc points (don’t know the correct name) when I record with my mod wheel. I’ve seen people on youtube record and they have multiple points while mine looks like the picture below. What i’ve tried already that hasn’t worked is reduce the reduction level and also increased the PPQ, neither have worked. If anyone knows how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it. Im using Cubase 14.

1st picture is how mine looks.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Open the Key Editor, in the Controller lane, click on the triangle icon (Controller Lane Setup) > Type of New Controller… Set it to Step.

It worked! Thank you!

Just out of curiosity (I always use “Step”): if “Step” is NOT selected: what sense does it make? What would I use that for?

Be sure to reset the changes you made that didn’t work.

If PPQ is the same as what I think it is, your MIDI clock will now be too fast when sequencing external gear.

Isn’t that tied to your snap grid?

Did you encounter a bug in Cubase? Does Cubase send the midi clock messages at the wrong speed when changing the PPQ?

I don’t think so. PPQ (Pulses Per Quarter note) was originally a unit used to describe clock pulses when synchronizing multiple devices. Then computer based sequencers and DAWs used the same unit to describe the max resolution of MIDI data.
Cubase still send 24 PPQ for MIDI Clock sync regardless of the MIDI Display Resolution setting in Preferences.
