I try to a make a new record in a created event and want to put the notes in a before made record.
What i do:
I record a bass drum on each quater step and stop the record.
After a short while I want to add a snare drum on each half step on the before recorded bass drum part so I start the record button put in the snare via the Rectangle Symbol on the left (beside the Media bay Symbol this opens a drum pad view) . I press the snare button, recording it, stopping the record.
After the recording a new event was sticked over the bass drum event so I got two events layerd together (one ofer the other) I can move the recorded snare drum to the right side so I see the before recorded bass drum event and on right side i got the recorded snare event.
I also try to record in the piano roll opend view but it got the same effect, a new event was created over the before recorded.
I see there was an recording mode in the tempo options but I can only see Punch In / Punch Out / Pre Roll.
Is there any record mode that will put the notes in a before recorded event or must I record the snare on a new track?
Select both events and glue them to combine into one track.
Hmmm
How I can select both when one is over another?
I see there is a SEL button but i can only select the one on the top not the one behind it.
If I had choosen the SEL button and move the one whit the snare sound above on the right side, select then both events whit SEL already choosen and try to move the snare event over the Bass drum event I can not move them separatly, just move both in one way but not the snare over the selected Bass Drum event.
Is there any video that shows how to glue one ore more layered events together?
It’s all in the manual/help files.
The Tools panel offers the following options for modifying events and notes:
Select

Use this button and draw out a selection rectangle to select multiple events or notes. Tap this button again to deactivate it and to enable other options.
Hi Cubaser.
Thanx again for your awnser.
If I select via a rectangle selection and do an selection or hold it longer I did not see more options.
I think i find a way:
Move all new made Events to the right.
Then go to the first made Bassdrum event, touch the right edge an make it a littel bigger than 4 Bars so that will overlap a littel bit.
Then take the made Snare event move it over the Bass Drum event, select Snare event and the underlined al little bit overlapped Bass Drum Event so that both are selceted, the glue symbol is now accessiable and now you can glue it together.
You must do this for each made event lets say a Hi Hat Sound, Tom Sound, Shaker… and you cant select all and move it in one way.
So thats an option.
It is a little bit difficult to do and find out how to understand it but i can live with that
If you got some pictures how to show the right selectionway perhaps you can upload it here ore if you know a vieo please let me know.
Is there no way to set an option in cubasis that will record new events in a before made event and did not overlay it whit new events`?
Perhaps the progrmmers can do this in an next update.
And also:
Happy Easter to you, all readers, Steinberg Staff worldwide and programmers if they reading in here.
Using the select tool, just drag over the area. All will be selected. You’re making this much more difficult than necessary.
Some kind of indication of ‘overlapping audio and midi-events’ should be present to make it easier to notice them!
Another desirable function is that if the piano-roll is already open for editing recording new notes should optionally be added (call it merged/overdub or new take recording) to the midi-event that is being edited or selected selected in the arranger making it easy to do overdubs.
Another option is to add support proper ‘takes’ that get a new lane on loop on the selected track, these ‘takes’ could then either be merged or comped into a new take.
The overlapping midi events is one big source for visual confusion when newly recorded notes end up on top while all events at the specific location in the arranger play at the same time…

Thanx so much Cubaser
Thats the point. This is my easter present from you.
I did not understood that I sould only choose the SEL tool and made an rectangel just a little bit more outside and then I can choose glue.
As I was coming from very long time ago Cubase user with an Atari ST1040 STFM and Mega ST Computer in the beginig 90s the workflow and my knowig about DAW issuses is a little bit more on Hardware Computer.
I started with Cubeat (anyone knows this version after so long time ?) and later updatet to Cubase on Atari.
Then I switch over to PC Cubase normal version and later to Cubase for audio that my ex Band needed to working with Digigidesign Session 8.
Then later started with Cubase SX2 and stop @ Cubase 7.5.
Oh my gosh it is about 13 years ago
Today I choosen to update to version 14
For a longer time I was switched over to Presonus Studio one and I got the actually 7 version of it.
I am happy to coming back to Cubase.
So now I can do an exchange between Cubasis and Cubase.
Sometimes not all Instrument was loaded in both version but I can live with that.
And I can load older songs I made in Cubase 7.5 and did not must emulate to Studio one anymore.
Thank you also Samuel for your comments that may help.
Also happy easter to you.
Hi @Zeitschleife
Below please find a short clip which shows how to quickly glue separate MIDI events into one MIDI event.
Best,
