I have two midi tracks I am scoring in Cubase and would like to be able to record from the score window without going into the project window to change tracks. Here is a screenshot of my staves. The top staff is one track and the split staff is the bottom track. So I have only those two tracks and I want to record seperate takes for either of them but the problem is that even though I can use the up and down keys to select different staves when it comes time to record, cubase will record on the selected track in the project window and doesnt care which staff I have selected in the score window. So if I want to record in the “vocal melody” staff I can’t just select the staff like I have it selected in the screenshot, I have to choose that track in the project window. I can’t just select the staff and hit record from my midi controller. I have up and down shortcuts on my midi keyboard so I can select different staves in the score editor and I can also record from my keyboard but I cant record in the staff that I want without manually going to the other window in Cubase so I find it very tedious to not be able to just record in the staff that I want. Is there a way to do this from the score editor window without having to go in and out of my project window?
Hi,
First of all, this is not Cubase 15 with the new scoring engine, right?
I’m afraid, this selection cannot be linked with the track selection, so your use case won’t work
Hi, I think this is a relatively special requirement. Maybe it would be possible to have the score window open in a separate window or the lower zone.
Perhaps the score will be updated then while recording. And possibly you could switch directly between the different tracks and the related score
THank you so much Maestro… it is so crazy how a little but obvious thing like that can make all the difference. You obviously know your DAW. Well done and you really helped me out. I don’ think you realise how annoying it was having to switch between the two screens when that record button was up there staring me in the face
Maybe it was too obvious. ![]()
(Like almost anything else in Score Editor!
