How to save instrument track with effects as a preset?

I have a VSTi loaded with a patch configured, and VST plugins on the track inserts. How can I save this configuration as an instrument preset such that I can load it all when I want to “Add Instrument Track”?

Hi,

You can save this all as a Track Preset.

I’ve done that, but was looking for it afterwards when ‘adding an instrument track.’ I do not see my preset when trying to “load”, but I do see it if I open the “save” option again.

I think I understand what you’re saying.
When you open the window for loading a track preset, there may be activated filters, and this may lead to not seeing your preset.
Now, if you open the tab for filters (by clicking first at the button at the top-right of the Results tab, you can set the filter to the “Track Preset File” option. This way, I think that your preset will appear.

Good thought, but no filters are selected. Turning off the filters option only removes the filters window, does not increase the list of presets shown (which is 2 that I must have saved some time ago).

Please post a screenshot, similar to mine, so we can see what is going on.

Here is the save dialog, and the load dialog…

EDIT: Well, dammit. I see now that there is a bit of search text in the load dialog from some previous search. When I remove that I can find my preset.

I have done the same on occasion.

It would seem to me, if you type in words for a search, then close the load box, any words you left once you closed it and then re-opened should be deleted? This way you are starting fresh every time you open it.

Isn’t that the proper behavior?

You would think so. However it could at times be useful to isolate presets by some string.

Perhaps a check box is needed with the option to keep the current search text active, also for filters, otherwise clear it when closing the window.

By default the search text in the search field for a specific medium (e.g. a VST preset for Padshop) is retained until it is reset manually with the Reset Search button grafik.
