I can send CC103 messages to change organ stops in Noteperformer, but I can’t figure out how to send a change before the first note of the piece. No matter what I do to get that change on the “0” of playback, it doesn’t take effect until the second note (so it’s full organ on the first note, then changes on the next note). I wish there was a way to see the playback space before “0”.
I’ve even tried doing a one-second pre-roll but nothing seems to work. What am I overlooking?
Hi @dwlarson, I tried, and with this method you can have the CC switch from the firs note:
create a short pick-up bar at the beginning of the flow (one 16th). Remove the rest. Make the barline invisible (change it to Tick barline and set the Tick adj. Out value to -1). In Engrave mode/Note Spacing, eliminate the gap.
You will now see a tiny bar 0 in the key editor, where you can set your CC control point before the actual piece begin (this works also with the Preroll set to 0):
Dorico file example (Note Performer playback template):
invisible pickup bar as fake preroll for CC 103 Noteperformer Organ.dorico (1.4 MB)

You could add the CC to the Init expression of the Expression Map.

I think both solutions mentioned will work, but @benwiggy had the easiest one to try – and it works fine. I’ll use that going forward. Thanks!
