How to set up sustain pedal on Akai MPK 249

I feel a bit silly for not saving it on the mpk. Thank you!

Unfortunately afeter having done so the pedal is still not functioning as a sustain. Is there another setting which needs to be changed?

Not that I can think of. If you press EDIT on the MPK, and then press the sustain pedal, do you see something like this?

… and if you create an instrument or MIDI track in cubase with the MPK as input and add the MIDI plugin “MIDI Monitor”, do you see something like this?

If not, that could maybe help you to find the problem. I am sorry, cannot really help you further on that one…

I’ve set everything up as per your instructions but it still doesn’t work.
Cubase captures the input but somehow it doesn’t do what it should.

Thank you very much for helping me sofar. Very much appreciated.

Hi,

You are monitoring the Input. The hardware stil sends the same value, so on the input, it’s the same. But Cubase interprets it differently.

okay, but how do I change that? I’ve checked if cc64 isn’t used by Cubase and that’s not the case.

Any luck? I’ve had the exact same issues you’re having. For whatever reason, I can’t seem to override the script settings on Cubase. The mpk249 for me is on iCloud (I have a Mac). I make the changes but then I reload Cubase it goes back to the old file.

Hi,
I’m not a Mac guy but have you tried to save the file locally on your rig? I remember that this has caused issues in the past.
Also make sure, that your adjusted User Preset on your Akai is active. If you have a personalized preset on your Akai like me - the MPK tends to revolt back to Preset 10 Cubase for whatever reason.

Hi,

The MIDI Remote scripts have to be stored in the dedicated folder:
/Users/[user_name]/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/Driver Scripts/Public/akai/mpk249
