How to turn off "Event Clip Gain Fader Icon

is there any way to turn this useless giant fader icon off that gets in the way ?

Hi,

You can do so in the Preferences > Event Display > Audio > Event Volume Curve and Fades > Show Event Volume Control. You can set this to:

  • Never
  • Always (default)
  • on Mouse Over

Hi,
please don’t double post questions here in this forum.

I already answered your question…

No I mean just the MASSIVE REDUNDANT FADER , I still need to be able to adjust event clip gain with mouse

Hi,

Do you mean the slider, which appears after you click on the control?

You can use the Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Mouse-Wheel to do so. Or you can edit the value via mouse in the Info Line.

Martin’s solution is correct if we haven’t terribly misunderstood what you meant in the first place. If you want that “on top” you need to check an extra option in your preferences which you will find here:

Preferences/Editing/Audio/Use Mouse Wheel for Event Volume and Fades

Allows you to use the mouse wheel to move event volume and fades.

  • Moving the mouse wheel moves the event volume up or down.
  • Holding down Shift while moving the mouse wheel moves the fade curves.
  • Positioning the mouse in the left half of the event moves the end point of the fade in.
  • Positioning the mouse in the right half of the event moves the start point of the fade out.

Yes, I am aware of this but in my mind I make a conscious effort to avoid adjusting with the mouse wheel and subconsciously moving it, Agsin , there is no reason why we cannot have back the TAB to pull down the gain in the top middle of the event instead of in the far left Bottom corner which brings up a massive fader icon. the New Range selection gain adjustment is only accessible after the range selection tool has been selected, So why not keep the original tab so we can quickly adjust gain on fly . instead of having to zoom in on events until the new bottom left gain icon tab appears , Its a real pain ITB !!

Fair enough, I was not saying that the new event clip gain handling is better or worse than it was before. That’s not for me to decide what you favour!
I was merely pointing out the options that we have now. If you prefer the old way - fair enough! Nobody of sound mind would argue about taste - that’s all up to you!

Not sure why Martin wrote “mouse wheel” when it actually is “left mouse click”.
The difference to the older behaviour is that the entire event is the clickable area, not just a tiny square and that you have to hold modifier key(s) while doing so - while you can chose which modifiers to use.
But the “click + move mouse up and down” is the same as before.

Hi,

Not sure either. You are right. It’s Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Mouse-click + Move Up/Down.
