I have a Cubase 14 Pro and Groove agent 5 License.
I stupidly installed ALL the VST instruments from the Download Manager because I assumed what was visible and downloadable were all available to me! So now that I am with the program, no pun intended, I am wondering:
How long before the Halion 7 & Halion Sonic Collection sounds I have already installed and used(!!) will disappear?
To save disk space, what is the best way of removing the instruments I do not have a license for?
hi there :). I just upgraded from9.5 pro to 14 Pro and I was also now downloading and still it is…also wondering…if all what is listed there is for me …so many librarys and even Dorico stuff and nuendo …so far am still downloading halion content and then i find another list where it would be installed with another bigger library. and since then i came here in the forum to find information… so i guess i should not download all things that it offers and installs without any problem ? to avoid later licensing mess ? cheers
Yes, from what I understand, everything that is available to you is in your “My Product Downloads folder” only.
Where it gets confusing is they say that Halion Sonic 7 is included free, and so it seems logical to go to the VST Instruments and Plug in folder to get it, and then you see all these other things in that folder and it is normal and logical to then assume that the others are also available for free - but they are not!
When you download Cubase 14 Pro from the My product downloads folder, from what I understand, all the included plug ins (e.g., Halion Sonic 7) are automatically installed and you do not need to go to the VST download folder at all.
OK, that was a very confusing and time consuming exercise. In case anyone else makes this mistake, I would highly recommend just uninstalling Cubase 14 and all the content, and just reinstalling only those things in My Product Downloads.
Also, I decided to click on all the previous Cubase versions I had a licence for and installed any VSTs that were not listed in Cubase 14 list. e.g., I found that under Cubase 12 was Halion Sonic SE 3. After saying that I have no idea if that version had any extra sounds in it!
I found the library manager was sometimes inconsistent with what Media Bay was showing because the different versions of Halion were sometimes overlapping, but one thing that helped a lot was displaying the Library Name and Content set in the Media Bay window (both are hidden by default).
