What is the process to upgrade from one version to another? And what is the price? Do i have to pay full price for going from 11 to 14? Thanks
Hi,
Here, click Buy Cubase. Select Cubase Pro 14. Select updates & upgrades, select Update from Cubase Pro 11, …
It cannot be easier.
Thank you for the info and link… Even though I have been a Cubase/Nuendo user since 3.0 and with all the incremental updates I estimate I have spent over $2K, the ~$300 fee to upgrade I truly think is unreasonable, and Steinberg should re-evaluate for the loyal customers that have been always upgrading throughout the last 20 years… At this time, I will not be buying at this price. But thanks for the info again. Takis
@takismatheou If you are on the e-licenser sometime in 2025 it will no longer work, and you will have to pay for a full new license. So bear that in mind.
Hi,
To clarify this… The update/upgrade from eLicenser-based products won’t work. The (old) application will work.
Oh really!!! I just placed a response on another related topic concerning the cost of upgrades to the software and lack of respect to long time users like myself… Let me put it this way… I AM DONE WITH STEINBERG!!! Unless they put some kind of apology publicly and stop these ‘faciast’ type of policies., and remedy the situation both short term and long term economical pricing and technology. policies … This is just bad business… Takis
My humble advice:
Look for any sale until they switch off the eLicenser system. You may have missed the one recently - 50 Percent off. Maybe there is something similar again. I don’t know.
You may find info’s here:
How To Migrate Steinberg Licences To The Steinberg Activation Manager
My wishes and questions I have no answers for so far:
With the “switch off of the eLicenser” … there should be at least a possibility provided by Steinberg to move licenses from one licenser to another after that. Many may have empty eLicenser dongles the loose their value immediately after the switch-off. I hope Steinberg could be persuaded to offer such a service.
And:
One should not loose the grace period due to the forced switch to the new system. Does it happen? Some may have the updates for their eLicenced software but do not want to active it. Only when the new version is needed.
Is the grace period preserved if one does not proceed the activation during the switching procedure? (If one does not activate the now version for the new system?) Than the latest version for eLicenser should be on the eLicenser and one can activate the now version when needed with the preserved grace-period? Is this the case? Does anyone knows about that and can provide clarification?
From 11 to 14 is a huge improvement overall. If it’s worth the price for you is a thing only you can decide.
Providing new versions with new features and always up to date compatibility with todays computers costs money. Thats a simple fact.
Jirsak,
Thank you for the response. I appreciate the support effort. I am assuming you have read my negative comments concerning your company’s upgrading tactitcs. For 20 years I have used Cubase. I will be changing to another professional DAW, which i do not want to do, just on principal and where they will not have your company’s nickel and diming tactics…
