How to upgrade to Dorico 6

Dorico tells me I should install Version 6. When I follow the link to the site and sign-in, there is a box that says, “Redeem download Access Code.” I don’t know what that is, and if I have that somewhere, I don’t know where.

What should I do?

Dorico 6 is a paid upgrade from v5. Have you purchased the upgrade?

Dorico isn’t telling you that you should install Dorico 6: it’s informing you that Dorico 6 is available, and gives you a button you can click that takes you to our web site so you can find out more about it.

Ignore the word “should.” If it is a paid upgrade, I will be happy to pay. It is not obvious on the site what I need to do next. “Purchase Upgrade” would be clear.

Allow me to rephrase: what is the next step to purchase?

If you go to dorico.com, there’s a red button that says “Buy Dorico”. Then you have to click through and find the particular item that you want – I’m guessing the update from Dorico Pro 5.

I love Dorico and think the staff is wonderful. As a former software designer, however, I know that we often think things are obvious because we know the answer, while users often have to idea what to do. Watching users in a usability lab with one of my products was very humbling for me.

I just upgraded my cable and Internet, and spent a total of two hours on the phone with four different people because no one thought to say, “Oh–you have to take the new remote and push that unmarked black circle.” I sort of felt stupid but also sort of felt that they could have told me that.
