I have been using an Oxygen 49 controller to do midi remote punch-ins for years-easily, using the foot pedal for the keyboard–FOR years! Now it’s replaced by the midi remote manager. I do this so I can play guitar or bass and punch in with my feet. Please help!!!
Have you created a new midi remote yourself, or found a shared one? If you did it yourself, have you added to its surface the pedal too?
No I haven’t added the pedal. Words of wisdom?
Well, if planning to use just the midi remote, I think you should. This way you can then map it to the command Transport→Activate Punch In, to it
Thanks-is there a possibility of instructions?
Sure. Can you post a screenshot of what you already have done with your remote? I mean the window showing its elements.
ΟΚ, nice! From what I can see it’s a midi remote made using the mapping assistant. You can see the “EDIT MIDI Controller Surface” button. You have to click it, and it will take you to the editing window. There you can hit the “Pencil” button at the top area of the editing window, so that you can go to the section of adding controls. When you’re there, press the pedal. It should now turn up as a new element on the UI. After that, click on “Go to Mapping Assistant” so that you can finally bind the pedal to the punch-in command.
This is awful kind of you! I’ve gotta quit for the day, but I’ll be back in in the morning to work on it. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to help me with this!

Hi, just to be clear, in your first screenshot, did you press the pedal down and it created an element on the window? Is this the one with channel 1 and MIDI CC 2?
That’s not what I did. I added a new device-to add the keyboard. After I did that I tried the pedal-which didn’t work. I don’t see where i would add the pedal…….sorry to be dense…:-?
Thanks again!
I did highlight the button. Just no communication between the two and Cubase…
Which version of the O49 do you have? I’ve seen they come in different versions, mk 3, 4, 5. I would like to have a look at its midi ports names.
Here is a few pics. It’s fairly old, but I did buy it new. It just has the square usb and also a 1/4’ to plug in the pedal.
Before now IO used the studio setup section and added it there with an xml file.
Default Midi Sustain & Foot Pedal Punch-in.xml (487 Bytes)
Cool, now since you already have this generic remote file, why don’t you install it, instead of getting into the “new” remote system?
Great question. Because it no longer works! They
have a warning on that page too-saying it’s going away. “Legacy Information”
It doesn’t matter which way-as long as I can find “a” way…everything was working fine-for years literally until now.
Ignore this.
I see that you haven’t set the MIDI In/Out Ports in this generic remote. Why?
