How to use Range to Next/previous Event

Hi,

It seems I cannot get these to work for the new 10.5.20
update10.5.20.gif

Range to Next Event
Moves the selection range to the next event head or tail on the selected tracks and turns the selection range to a zero selection.

Range to Previous Event
Moves the selection range to the previous event head or tail on the selected tracks and turns selection range to a zero selection.

When does it go to head and when to tail? What is the use case of this?

Hi,

Unfortunately, we haven’t seen the most important in the GIF. That is, what function have you chosen? Be aware, there are 4 functions:

  • Range to Next event
  • Range to Previous event
Both of these seem to move both Range borders (left and right) to the next/previous event, so at the end the range Length is 0. What doesn’t make much sense to me.
  • Enlarge Range to Next event
  • Enlarge Range to Previous event

These two make sense to me.

Thank you Martin

Had to decrease the size for upload.

I applied “Range to Next event” and it seems it just deselected the range!

Yes, it makes it a zero selection. I guess the expected follow up would be “Enlarge Range to Next event”. I’m sure there is potential for macros, it’s just I haven’t digested it yet.

Hi,

OK, so it’s even written in the manual this way.

…turns selection range to a zero selection.

Then it works as defined.

Are there any use cases?

I found use cases for “Enlarge Range to Next event” but not for one in my OP.
