HSO library under HALion or HALSonic SE??

Hello,

I’m getting pretty bewildered by the current HSO situation: I have the old 16 bit version, the player is 3.5.0.592, the sounds are hsb files and live in my sample library disk. I read that I should be able to see this library from Sonic SE or HALion 4 but it doesn’t recognise it. The original HSO player appears to date from 2007 and is very flakey, crashing when used alongside Vienna or Kontakt players

Should I uninstall HSO and reinstall the soundset from Cubase 6 (the last version for which I have install disks)? Or somewhere else?
Should I continue to use the old player?
Why do Steinberg make installation such a nightmare?

I then successfully applied the 1.0.1 update from the downloads section of this site

I haven’t uninstalled the old one yet, but the point is the soundset is a different beast from the old .hsb files, even though it’s the same noises.
