I worked on a montage yesterday. Everything was fine. I saved it. This morning when I went to open it half of the names were missing from the files list and the order of the files was not what I saved. I am the only one using my computer and have NEVER had these types of problems before. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Also WL 13 seems to have problem remembering things including the layout of the EDIT window. In one case I keep making the overview smaller in a file but the next time I open WL the overview file is bigger than than the actual file. The other day WL audio output went from RME to Blackmagic. I never changed it. I’m starting to wonder if I have a virus OR ???
You are the only one to report this problem. No such report from the technical support of standard. Maybe your problem with your file system or media.
The only constructive thing I can suggest is that that when you next save a montage, save it in a different place (preferably a different disk) as well as where you usually save them. If the montage opens incorrectly from the ‘usual’ location, try the different location and see if it opens as expected. If it does, this points to a potential system error (journal maybe or a SSD that is on the way out).

Ever since I installed WL 13 I have been having problems. So what should I do? Reinstall WL 13 or ???. Thanks in advance! 
Just a suggestion but i would uninstall all Wavelabs you may have in your system.
After Uninstall save the settings you may find difficult to replicate or else, just delete everything.
Then run Revo Registry Cleaner (i recommend the Pro version) select “Managed Scans”, select “Forced Scan”, in “Scan for:” enter “wavelab” and click “Scan”.
Select all found registry entries and DELETE.
I would reboot after this is done but i’m Gen-DOS.
Proceed to install Wavelab 13 and configure as required.
If something fails in the previous steps there might be something wrong in your System disk or your OS installation.
I would not do that. This would have no effect.
Looking once more at your issues, the randomness and nature of the problems could suggest a potential problem with the SSD … while not exactly the same, similar weirdness surfaced on my big machine immediately before the SSD gave up without any other warning.
In the other thread, I asked you to provide a screenshot of the missing files dialog, when this situation happens to you. Without this, impossible to start a diagnostic.
Since you asked for the screen shot afterwards there was no way to do it.
Well yesterday my intern and I were working on a montage and right before our eyes one of the pieces changed places going from #8 to #4. We did nothing to cause this change. Also one of the markers for the start of a piece changed from red to purple without any intervention. I sure wish I could figure out what is going on since we are extremely busy.

The other thing that I encountered was a dying video card that seemed to make WL misbehave just before it quit.
Good suggestion, will do, although I don’t really think that is the problem…but it is a very good suggestion and easy to do.
Local or network storage?
If local: Have you tested or analyzed your drive (for example CrystalDiskInfo) to make sure it’s error free?
All local, all SSDs and yes I have used CrystalDiskInfo and it came up with 100% so it is good.
Then, why not? If it has no effect…
I wouldn’t sleep at night if i hadn’t done a clean uninstall and a proper reinstall.
The WaveLab behavior only depends on what is present in its Application folder and in the preference folder. WaveLab does not depend on any registry settings, for example.
This means, for example, that WaveLab 13 does not depend in any way of what is installed there:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\WaveLab Pro 12
C:\Users(…)\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\WaveLab Pro 12
I ran REVO and it found a lot of junk in my registry which it corrected. I also looked at the WL preferences and saw some problems of where files were supposed to be stored. I corrected those problems. We had NO problems yesterday. I did not uninstall WL.
We will see if this “fixes” the problems.
One problem with working with numerous interns over the years is that they sometimes “change” something for their uses and forget to put it back the way it was even after they have been told NOT to mess with settings.

So it wasn’t a Wavelab 13 issue, right?
It has already been suggested several times that this might be a local PC issue.
The best thing to do is to create an image with a working configuration that you can restore again and again.
A restricted user account with configuration limitations might also help…
