Hello. I’m still a newbie to Wavelab and Cubase. Recently I had Loopback working in Wavelab Elements 12 (Windows 11 desktop computer) until I tried out a USB microphone yesterday. I got the microphone working to record into Wavelab, no problem, but I have decided that I won’t be using that mic with this computer anymore. So I am trying to just GET BACK to the way my Wavelab was before, but I can’t find a way! My interface is an Audient iD14 MkII, it has loopback and it has worked fine with Wavelab (before my mic test yesterday). Loopback IS working fine in Cubase Artist 14 and also in Reaper. I’m only having the issue now with my Wavelab. In my screenshots below you can see Loopback isn’t a listed option in Audio Connections. I have tried several things like restarting Wavelab, restarting my computer, unplugging and re-plugging my interface. I have temporarily changed the Audio Device ASIO option in Wavelab to different options, but it always displays the same Analogue 1/2 Buses seen in my screenshot. I’ve hit the Refresh button on the settings screen, but nothing seems to change. In my Audient iD Mixer I have changed Loopback Source from “DAW 1+2” to “Master Mix” and back, but no change.
I’m hoping someone can PLEASE HELP me get my Wavelab back to the way it was. I’ve tried everything I can think of and have seemingly reached a dead end. Thank you!
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the link, but I haven’t had time to mess with my Wavelab issue since getting frustrated with it. I had to use Reaper to access Loopback recording since doing a simple USB microphone test in Wavelab seemed to make my Loopback option disappear afterwards. Being Cubase and Reaper both give me the Loopback option using my Audient iD14 MkII interface, I feel like it’s a Wavelab setting issue. I’m too new at Wavelab and now I’m stuck…
You have to enable or assign or work with Virtual Inputs and Outputs in your Windows Audio Settings and Wavelab. If you cannot see them in settings, it will show up when you reinstall your Audio Interface driver. Audient iD14 - Downloads
For example, in my device, I can assign Loopback on Virtual Audio. I go to Audio Preferences, go to Recording, I create a bus, name it Loopback and assign inputs 5 and 6 as shown in this video. Similarly, in your device you can do this with 3-4 and 5-6.
I then go to system sound settings and assign Virtual Out 5 and 6 as output, this can also be changed from audio icon on bottom right corner of your Windows 11 screen.
In the Montage, I choose input bus as Loopback that I assigned previously and I record what is played on my web browser.
You can audition virtual input/loopback when you enable monitoring in Wavelab.
