I cannot join two separated staff systems in Galley View

Dorico and Forum newbie here, please excuse any errors.

I either have a new problem or don’t know what terms to use in search. I have a Full Score layout in galley view that has three completely separate staff systems – vertical white space in between. Each right edge is a simple separation, each left edge is a grand staff barline.

The file was generated by exporting a Sibelius 8 file to MusicXML, then importing that into Dorico. The Sibelius file had a dashed barline where there are now Dorico separations.

I want a Dorico dashed barline (Shift-B-> “:”) where the separations are, but cannot find a way to join these sections. The grand staff barline is not selectable, so I cannot simply delete it.

Here’s a picture – remember this is galley view.

What should I try?

Try deleting the Coda symbol

Welcome to the forum!

If you don’t need the two Coda markers, you can simply select and delete them as @arco mentions. If you want to keep the Coda’s but lose the gaps, go to Engraving options > Repeat markers > Repeat sections and scroll to find this setting:

Set both values to 0 to get rid of the gap.

Thank you both arco and Zalde for your suggestions. The Codas did not belong there, were probably inserted as part of the MusicXML process. And even though I had seen such separations in other scores, it simply didn’t occur to me that they were the cause of my problem.

I deleted them and the breaks closed right up.

And I’ve learned a valuable lesson thanks to you both. Thanks again.
