Here is a choral call to worship I composed awhile ago. I took John’s advice and made a Noteperformer/Cantai playback template and tried it out on this piece. Except for having to change a ‘the’ to a ‘thee’ to get it to pronounce correctly, this is out of the box. I used the GPO5 Hauptwerk All Stops vst for organ. Pretty exciting. The future will only get better! When I think about all the effort that went into providing this, I’m amazed-and happy!
I need to experiment with the voices, but here is a piece for soprano and jazz combo using the Dorico/Cantai pt:
This marriage of Cantai with Dorico does have possibilities ![]()
I’ll add another. I used my Cantai/NP Template. I used Choral Male and Female with 8 voices each. With a bit more tweaking, this would, I think be decent enough for a demo. Considering that Cantai in Dorico is now basically ‘plug-in and play’, this is remarkable. I’m sure that things will get better; but this is a pretty good start. It’s very easy to focus on the things we may not be happy with yet (how many complaints/requests has the Dorico team gotten over the years?)-and look where Dorico is now-awesome! Have faith ![]()

Another one. A Choral prayer response.. I did have to fudge a bit to get the alleluias, but this has possibilities. I used the male/female choral voices.
Another Choral Prayer response. This one with brass & timpani. Used the Cantai/NP pt with Choral M/F voices. This is getting fun ![]()
And another with Brass, Timp. & Pipe Organ:
I like this one, too Choral male/female with 8 voices each):
Last one:
which is the soprano here in the jazz piece? She works quite well in this repertoire!
Thanks. I thought so, too. I like the juxtaposition of the classical soprano voice with the jazz combo. I’ll check the voice I used and let you know. Quite a few of Cantai’s voices are very useable in the right context
The Soprano I used was ‘Violetta.’
OK – thought it sounded like her. One of the three useable females!
