I have a valid key but eLicenser says soft elicenser cannot be used

Hi,
I haven’t used my Cubase LE AI Elements 10 for a while and for some reason the elicenser is screwed up. I have tried repairing and re-entering my license key but this doesn’t work.
I need to get to a previous. project I worked on.

The message in the elicenser is as follows:
No eLicenser Selectable
Currently you computers Soft-elicenser cannot be used. Please connect a USB eLicenser to your computer

Alternatively
you can try to repair the Soft eLicenser by cancelling the license activation process…
I have tried to add a screenshot below:

During the period between last using cubase and today I have upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Nick.

Please download the latest eLCC and check if the problem persists

This could be the reason for the invalidated eLicenser, because the Soft eLicenser relies on a couple of ids from hard and software.

You should try to download the lateste eLCC, as @Reco29 suggests, and then go through the reactivation process.

I’d also advise updating to Cubase 14, as the eLicenser Service will shut down on May 20:

If it is a LE/AI license and you have it registered, you can get a free upgrade to 14.

Hello,
Thank you for you reply. I have downloaded the eLicenser from here:

This bundle is dated March 11th 2025 and includes eLicenser Control Centre.

I have installed this bundle but I still get the same problem.
My process with the new software is:
I run Steinberg Download Assistant and enter my Download Access Code
This generates my current Activation Code, the one I received when I originally set up in 2021.
When I try to activate this code in Download Assistant, I get the same error as depicted above.
Thank you.

I have done maintenance on the elicense control centre:

My soft elicenser seem to be working now after an update and restart
But when I try to open cubase I get the error:
"No Valid License Found - The program will quit now

I also get this error from Steinberg Activation manager:

Have you gone through the reactivation process as Juergen suggested?
Your screenshot doesn’t show is if you have the required license there in elicenser or not.

Hello,
Yes I have re-installed everything at the latest releases.
But I still have licensing problems…

As mentioned in a previous entry, Cubase still will not run because it cannot find a license.
IO have opened a support ticket, but I am now of the opinion to just uninstall everything anyway

Thank you.

Your elicenser is now showing you have the Cubase LE license so what exactly happens now when you start Cubase 10 LE?
It looks like you are trying to enter an activation code but you don’t need to do that as the license shows as already activated.

BTW as your version is LE, updates are free, so you could request a license for the new version which doesn’t use elicenser at all.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply,

No need to worry now as Steinberg Support have replied to my request and they have applied licenses for the new version of Cubase to my account which I will install

Many thanks for you help and interest,
Nick.
