Some hints here:

PDF scan to musicxml?

Prior to using Finale, I used MOTU’s Composer’s Mosaic. I have a choral score that I would like to resurrect. Obviously, I can’t access the original MOTU files, but I have PDF’s of everything. Is there some recommended software that can read a PDF file and convert it to musicxml? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have!

In short: the technology to instantly convert images of music back into notation is still some years away.

There are a number of apps that will scan a page, and render it as music – though even the best require that you make corrections in the app before exporting as MusicXML for import to Dorico.

There is one app, called PDFtoMusic Pro, which specialises in converting PDFs that have been printed/exported directly from notation apps (ie. where the font symbols and lines are still described in the PDF, rather than just being “a picture”.) That can produce the best results; but even then you’ll need some tidying up.
