I can’t get along with the new versions—they confuse my eyes. Version 5 is the best. I downloaded Cubase 5.5 x64 from Steinberg’s website. How can I purchase a license for this version?

And also, do i have to buy a physical elicencer or i can buy just a serial?

Hi and welcome to the forum,
For Cubase Pro and Artist 5.5, you will need the USB-eLicenser. Be aware, the eLicenser technology is not supported anymore, and the eLicenser server was switched off on 2025-05-20.
If the seller sells you the license with the USB-eLicenser, you don’t need to buy a new one.
You can buy any Cubase version between 5.5 and 11. With these licenses, you can start the Cubase 5.5 application.

Ok i will look for a pre activated cubase 5.5-11 with the dongle for sale, apparently that a hard mission nowdays 
Must depend on location…I found some on Ebay no problem.
In fact one seller who had a dozen of them for sale (3 remaining) at what seems too cheap a price…but their screencap of the elicenser shows C11 not the (upgraded to) license it would have if they’d already updated them to Steinberg licensing.

Be careful! There is NO WAY to verify that a license is actually present on a physical USB-eLicenser before you buy it. If you buy from a stranger on the internet, you must completely trust the seller, otherwise you might end up with a completely useless empty USB-eLicenser.
