I want to invest in square format 5/4 1280x1024 business type monitor, should I be careful?

Hello, does cubase works fine with that type of format as secondary monitors. I just want to use them to have specific vst windows displayed at all time.

Should I expect any issue?

Thanks

You’ll probably find whatever you put on them could be too big. I wouldn’t use anything less than full hd

This resolution will work fine.

I wouldn´t use less than full HD,
I use a 42´´ 4k TV and I love it.

The usual definition of FHD of 1920x1080 is relevant for monitors having the “wide” 16:9 ratio, not applicable here for a square-ish 5:4 ratio.
This monitor with 1024 lines has only 5% less lines than your 42" FHD monitor. In a way it’s 95% the resolution of FHD, but obviously not as wide because it’s square-ish.

And being a “business type”, it’s likely in the 22"-27" max range, so it will still have much better dpi than a FHD would have over 42".
It will display about 2/3rd the information but in about 2/3rd the width a 16:9 monitor would occupy (assuming same height).
That can be a quite reasonable space saver option on one’s desk as a 2nd monitor.

A 5:4 (or 4:3) monitor actually is a more efficient way of using desk space because in a way, you’re wasting less vertical space with it.
