Windows is starting to act funny here. I can’t add folders to quick access, and opening the same windows after rebooting doesn’t work anymore.
Everything else works fine.
So I’m thinking about reinstalling windows with the option “keep all files and apps”.
Any good advice before I do ?
Should I deactivate Cubase, Wavelab and Dorico, and will my plugins still work - including the jbrigded ones ?
Anything else to consider ?
Thank’s in advance for any answers

I did that a couple month ago, all went well though. But i would do a backup of course. And also a backup for all the prestes/settings/chains and so on. Backup cubase profile.
I did it last week for several reasons. Just deactive your licenses first. And then, if you want to stay away from Microsoft Accounts like I did just follow the next…Steps to Create a Local User with Administrator Privileges During Installation:
Just in case I ve incuded a step by step for Windows11Pro
- Start the Installation Process:
Insert the Windows 11 installation media (USB drive or DVD) and boot from it.
Follow the prompts to begin the installation.
Select your language, time zone, and keyboard layout, then click Next and Install now.
2. Skip the Microsoft Account Sign-In:
Microsoft tries to push you to use a Microsoft account, but you can create a local account instead by following these steps:
Option A: “No Internet Connection”
During the setup, when prompted to connect to the Internet, disconnect your device from the Internet (unplug the Ethernet cable or don’t connect to Wi-Fi).
If Windows insists on an Internet connection, there should be a small option like “I don’t have internet” or “Continue with limited setup”. Click on that option. This will prompt you to set up a local account.
Option B: Use the Command Prompt to Bypass Microsoft Account:
If you’re forced to sign in with a Microsoft account, press Shift + F10 to open the Command Prompt.
In the Command Prompt, type:
cmd
OOBE\BYPASSNRO
Press Enter. Your computer will restart, and after the reboot, the option to proceed without an Internet connection or Microsoft account should appear.
You can now choose to set up a local account.
-
Ensure Administrator Privileges:
By default, the first account you create during the installation is given administrator privileges. However, you can confirm this:
Once the installation is complete and you are logged into your new account, press Windows + X and choose Computer Management.
Go to Local Users and Groups > Users.
Right-click on your user account, select Properties, and go to the Member Of tab.
Ensure that your account is part of the Administrators group. -
Disable Windows Hello (Optional):
If you do not want to use Windows Hello (PIN, face recognition, etc.), skip this during setup, or remove it later through Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
By following these steps, you’ll ensure that your account is a local user with administrator rights, bypassing the need for a Microsoft account.
wow - thank’s. I’m more confident now
Good advice!
Thank’s
Before anything else, make sure you know password and logon to your Microsoft account and Google account ( if you use Google stuff).
