I would like to see the musical notes in the project view

Hello, is it possible to see the notes in the project view? I mean see the notes instead of the colored rectangles that represents that there is MIDI info written there. As a classically trained musician, it will be a lot easier for me to know what is going on if I could see the notes.

For me is easier (and especially faster) to read the music and listen to it in my mind in order to write new music than having to hit play or see the pianoroll (which I don’t know if you can see it from the main view).

If not, is there any workaround to make my life easier in this regard? I hope it makes any sense, thank you in advance!

PS I’m calling it “project view”, because I don’t know its name. It Is this part:

I like the idea but can’t help wondering how legible, say a piano part on two staffs would be on that small space.

Well, at least more legible than having nothing …

In theory you can have notes displayed in the project. But practically it will not do what you want. See for yourself:

The notes don’t show the real score, you will always only see quarter notes regardless of the actual length. And they are tiny.

You can switch it in the Preferences:
grafik

That is exactly the right name.

Wow, this is even worse than seeing nothing… what a shame :frowning:

And the score editor? There you can see the notes.

key editor in the lower zone?

Dorico?

Open “Score Editor” in Page mode… It will be your alternative to “Project View”

Just open Score view (SCORES>Open Score Editor), then adjust your windows accordingly?

The problem with this method is that you lose the lower zone, which will be useful to modify CCs and Velocity. And also it is not what I’m looking for. I would like to see the notes in the project zone, instead of empty midi chunks or the notes in piano-roll mode, because I’m much more confortable with notation than piano-roll.

About Dorico, yes, I have Dorico and I love it, but it is not a fully featured DAW.

Thank you for the options, but for what I am seeing, I am afraid it is not possible in Cubase… :frowning:
